Rhetoric Now!

Andy Warhol (part of Dollar Sign, 1982)

With a visual nod to Andy Warhol’s Dollar Sign (left image) I began a blog in 2009 called Money/Speech to think about how rhetoric (let’s define rhetoric as the ways and means of public debate, discussion, and persuasion) becomes tightly aligned with money. The exemplar of this process is expressed in a series of U.S. Supreme Court’s decisions protecting monetary contributions to political campaigns as free speech. It is time to try to write again. My 2025 New Year’s resolution is to cultivate my public voice. To encourage a sense of experimentation, the topics and issues I will address are probably best described as first drafts. Money/Speech will continue to be a theme, but my plan is for my themes to be more expansive so as to explore Rhetoric Now!
